We've all received the emails, folks; sales this month haven't been so good, and that's by no means anyone's fault. We're fishermen and fisherwomen casting lines but none of the fish are biting. We can blame the fish for not wanting all the great worms we have to offer, or we can find a way to get the fish to bite. We have two weeks with the playground all to ourselves since Kitty's out of commission, and I think we need to use that opportunity to our advantage. Kitty does great work with marketing and getting us out there, but she can't do all of it. I think the best Christmas/Yule/insert holiday here present we can give her as friends, colleagues and family members would be for her to come back to the internet with us in full motion, in terms of cross-promoting and thinking about how we can up our profiles online and in the real world. I think Kitty deserves to rest up, get better, enjoy her holiday, and come back to this and see us laying the groundwork for a successful year. That'd be a big present for her to unwrap.
So... ideas! What can we all think of? Contests, anthologies, raffles, blog hops, cross-interviews, what can we do to get those damn fish to start biting? Let's get as creative as we can and start fishing with nets!

What else is there, folks? We've got guest posts on each other's blogs, which helps us take advantage of each other's fanbases, but how can we expand our own as well? Then we can share even bigger fanbases!

And that is the big question. I knoe that my blog gain followers every few days. Slowly but organically. How do we turn all of our followers our blogs, twitter accounts, facebook fan pages, etc. into sales. That is the question.

That is, indeed, the question. The fish see the hook but never bite. I'm going to be doing a raffle contest soon to spread around my book's trailer in preparation for the upcoming sequel's release, as well as finally recording those spotlight videos when I can figure out how to nullify the echo in my frickin' bedroom.

I have made a Good Reads account and signed myself up as an author. Also, I have a Tumblr blog dedicated to my book. The way I see it, I'm essentially promoting the company by promoting myself. Does anyone know of any book review blogs that are currently active (as in, they've updated in the past month or so?)

Try looking on this list and finding a few who do your genre: www.theindieview.com/indie-reviewers/ Promoting the company by promoting ourselves is great, but let's not forget each other. The best way to help the company grow is to help its members grow.

Personally, I think we have some options, but we're naturally averse to using them because they cost money. Like, we could all try and take advantage of the Masquerade Crew's Twitter/Facebook schemes. We can all put in for a big group marketing session with Kit Watson. We can try and group-fund some community advertising, or pick one or two per time period to allot something of an advertising pot to. ...Okay, that last one sounds radical, but my point still stands.

I'd be totally for group funding. The only way to do a marketing session is to do Skype since the authors here are on different parts of the planet.

That is true. But not all of y s have Skype. Even thinking of doing a running video log once a week. But not sure how I'd find the time. I will try and find a way to make it work though. Would like to find a way to improve sales for not just me but the rest of us as well.

She's also willing to do it on a G+ Hangout as well, but that's the same ticket. I think one thing that some of us are lacking in is marketing ourselves. Not our books, but ourselves as authors. Networking, socialising, contributing, etc.
